Beauty in Flaws: Celebrating Imperfect Stone
Sep 2025
Veined, cracked, and beautifully irregular — natural stone's imperfections are becoming the most coveted design feature.
The pursuit of 'perfect' marble — uniform, unblemished, predictable — is yielding to an appreciation for stone's raw character. Designers are now selecting slabs specifically for their dramatic veining, fossilised inclusions, and colour variations. Unfilled travertine with its natural pitting. Green marble with wild, painterly streaks. Quartzite that looks like frozen lightning. Each piece becomes unrepeatable art. The shift reflects a broader cultural move toward authenticity and away from the synthetic perfection that defined the previous decade.
